Saturday, October 06, 2007 Teh Peng from Cameron Highland..(?)im a sucker for thick frothy teh peng with a strong but not sickening sweet dairy taste to it.we were at kim's for char hay mee, and as usual, i ordered teh peng. the boys ordered canned drinks. i don usually drink coke from the can cos i find it overly gassy. when the scrawny unker came with the cans and 1 cuppa teh peng, 1st look i land on the classic tiger glass tumbler tells me its gonna be disgustingly tasteless. i took a quick sip; bLearGh! was that extremely diluted condensed milk in ice i just tasted! before the unker went away with the money and was just in time, before he turned away, to catch him: "eh unker, lee eh teh peng bo bee toh lei!" (eh uncle, ur teh peng so tasteless!) not that im trying to film a sequel to the infamous "cameron highland teh peng" video-tube, but it sure does sounds like deja vu, huh? :P he turned around looking nowhere near being pleased, and i told him to change it. any fool can tell im irritated from the way i spoke. sorry lah, but its my fav drink leh! how can i allow just anyone(whoever that maybe) to tarnish the godly image of the drink in me with such sub-standard stuff?? then they talked to me in hushed tones: "eh pls lei, kokkie! u nv heard of the phrase, 'Never offend the serving waiter' meh? somemore that unker got ang gong one leh!" "but hey, whats wrong? im paying a good dollar u know? okay wud! just change only!" then the unker returned. same tumbler. same color. confirm never change lor! wtf?! "eh unker, soh siang lei! lee ai chee kuah mai?" (eh uncle, same taste leh! u wan to test for urself) "sio di, jit zun anay wah liao, wa chiong lee jit buay teh peng sibeh bo hua leh." (eh brother, now so late already, i make 1 cup of teh peng is simply not worth it.) ok, i can tell he's not gonna do it. "coke jit gong." (a can of coke) the boys never felt so relieved before. |
