Lack of Sleep

i told myself i gotta l0ok up what this means when i got the time.

i had the time today. yipee!

Sleep deprivation is used as a torture or interrogation technique (for example,
in Pinochet-era Chile, the Soviet Union, and by coalition forces in
Afghanistan).[29] Interrogation victims are kept awake for several days; when they are finally allowed to fall asleep, they are suddenly awakened and questioned. Menachem Begin, the Israeli prime minister from 1977-83 described his experience of sleep deprivation when a prisoner of the KGB in Russia as follows, "In the head of the interrogated prisoner, a haze begins to form. His spirit is wearied to death,
his legs are unsteady, and he has one sole desire: to sleep... Anyone who has
experienced this desire knows that not even hunger and thirst are comparable
with it."

hmm.. hunger and thirst incomparable to sleep deprivation..? i rembr on several occasions i stayed awake for 2-3days straight. i din think of it as a form of torture cos i was experiencing worse.

so boy 'n gals, pls stop torturing urselves already, ok? treat urselves better. no time for slp is a lame excuse, cos everyone has this same 24 hrs per day. all u need is a lil' bitsy bit of time management ;)

and in case ur already ½ grinning thinkin' to urself that u have a wonder remedy for this form of torture, clutching a cuppa Starbucks wont be of great help. not in the long run =]

Sleep deprivation is often used as a form of recreation, entertainment or to
provide a legal "high" without using drugs.[citation needed] Vivid hallucinations, heightened senses and a feeling of incredible creativity (common effects of illicit drugs) may occur after 48 hours (or less) of being in a state of sleeplessness.

whoever said u can only get high on drugs or alcohol?

A large, new study, for example, provides the latest in a flurry of evidence
suggesting that the nation's obesity epidemic is being driven, at least in part,
by a corresponding decrease in the average number of hours that Americans are
sleeping, possibly by disrupting hormones that regulate appetite. The analysis
of a nationally representative sample of nearly 10,000 adults found that those
between the ages of 32 and 49 who sleep less than seven hours a night are
significantly more likely to be obese.

wanna grow fat? then don sleep lor!

i hope this changes ur mind about getting 'nuff slp for at least this week =]
